Do I need Council approval to build carport?
Yes, you will need to submit your application to council to be approved. Generally its best to use a private building certifier to do this on your behalf, prices vary from state to state and region to region, however generally you will be charged around $500 for a building certifier to do this on your behalf. Your building certifier will need your carport engineering plans which we supply to you upon deposit.
I live in a Rural Area, do I still need Council approval?
Some rural areas and properties on acreage do not require council approval; however it is best to speak with your local council to confirm.
Can I get the engineering plans first before I pay for the carport?
Yes, you can order your engineering plans from us for 10% of the value of the carport, once the carport has been approved by council and you are ready to take delivery, your balance is now payable and your carport will be delivered to you approximately 4 weeks from the date of final payment.
How do I do the carport footings?
You have 2 options, you can either bolt down onto a concrete slab using our bolt down footing bracket, this is secured to the ground using dyna bolts and a chem set chemical anchor that will weld your bolt to the concrete, this is a very strong way to secure the footings, however the most common and always will be the strongest way to secure the footings is to cast the column into footings, if you choose this option, you will be supplied with 500mm of extra length on your columns and this 500mm is to be cast into the ground as per your engineering plans provided.
I have a sloping Block, do you allow for this?
Yes, we can easily supply you with columns that are a little longer to allow for an uneven ground.
How are the carports measured?
For example, a 6x6 meter carport is measured from the outside of the fascia to the outside of the fascia; additional to this will be your gutters which are 150mm
How high will my carport be?
All of our carports are priced at a standard height of 2.4 meters; this is measured from the underside of the fascia to ground level (actual clearance)
Can you attach the carport to my house, or existing building?
Yes, we can offer an attached carport; prices are generally the same as free standing. We will design and supply a bracket that will attach to your home or existing building complete with certified engineering.
Do you install?
Unfortunately we do not offer an install service, we are a design and manufacturing company and do not hold a builders license. If you do not want to build your carport yourself, for your best result we recommend you speak to your local roofers or someone who has experience in Colorbond fascia and gutter.
